The Cloud Security Alliance is a not-for-profit organization established to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing and provide education on how cloud computing can secure other types of computing. The collaboration will align ODCA Cloud Service Provider Assurance and Monitoring requirements with the CSA's Cloud Audit specification and STAR (Security, Trust, and Registry) program, as well as other best practices and cloud security certification training and testing. Initial results from the collaboration are targeted for the first half of 2012. Read more about the collaboration.
The Distributed Management Task Force is an industry organization with more than 160 members, established to enable more effective management of millions of IT systems. The collaboration will hasten the development of industry standards for managing cloud computing environments, with a focus on interoperability and ease of use. The initial collaboration will focus on interoperable management of virtual machines regardless of data center location, and is expected to address the need for simplified cloud management through a single view of all cloud resources. OASIS is a not-for-profit consortium that drives the development, convergence, and adoption of open standards for the global information society. OASIS open standards offer the potential to lower cost, stimulate innovation, grow markets, and protect the right of free choice of technology. The collaboration with ODCA will work to drive standards for service transparency.
The Open Compute Project was founded to bring together a community of engineers to define and deliver the most efficient server, storage, and data center designs. The organizations are engaging in joint projects initially focused on rack-scale infrastructure; ultra-efficient server and storage designs; and scalable, open systems management. The ODCA infrastructure working group will collaborate with selected engineering projects of the Open Compute Project. Read more about the collaboration.
The Green Grid is an IT industry group dedicated to advancing resource efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. TGG and ODCA will utilize TGG's IT efficiency metrics, including Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE), to align with ODCA's cloud usage model requirements to deliver resource efficient computing for industry solutions.
